The city of Bellevue, initially settled in the 1830s by European Americans, is one of the oldest towns in Nebraska. It sits just west of the Mississippi River and is only 12 miles south of Omaha. Its name, Bellevue, means "beautiful view" in French. Bellevue is a suburban city with close access to the city life of Omaha, making it an attractive place to live for all walks of life.
